Travelstart is a no go

Booked a Qatar Airways flight via Travelstart on 6th December for a flight from Johannesburg to Manchester Uk on the morning of 10th January. Travelstart informed me before Christmas that that particular flight had been cancelled and I was instead booked on a later flight, same day.A week after that I was informed by Qatar Airways that my flight had been cancelled. No notification received from Travelstart. When I enquired via email with Travelstart, I was informed that the flight had indeed been cancelled. I advised Travelstart that I need to fly out on the 10th January due to work commitments. I was advised there were no flights available and the only option I had was a refund, of which they deduct R99 administration fee and money only refunded 12-24 weeks after claim submitted. Now I'm out of pocket and unable to get to work! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Karen,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

I am very sorry to hear about the predicament you have been placed under.  Travelstart is not in control of the tickets as they belong to Qatar and we had sent out a mass email to all affected passengers. I am sorry that the email had not reached you. Please note that there were and are currently no alternatives and the only option is to refund the booking. I have checked the information and can see that the team has waived the admin fee as the cancellation is due to no fault of your own.

I have expedited the refund and can advise that it could take 4-6 weeks to be completed by the airline as they are due to refund you, because they hold the funds on the booking and are currently inundated with refund requests.

I hope that there is a way that your job can be saved and we we hope that you can accept our apology and we apologies on behalf of the airline.

Kind Regards,
Melissa
