Travelstart flexible travel date gimmick

I booked a flight ticket for my brother Joburg Mauritius Joburg departing 30 July return 2 August and took their gimmick flexible travel date option. Which states that there are airline penalties. When I wanted to change the date I waited the whole day until there was no point. My brother had to collect my mom who fell sick while in Mauritius that’s the reason I Paid extra for the option. Still waiting now. Don’t fall for that flexible travel date
