Travelstart date change fees are outrageous!!!!
I made a booking on travel start and paid the "upgrade to a rebookable flight" charge of R795. At the time of booking,this charge relayed the impression that one does not incur costs to change the date. I am aware that a difference in airfare may need to be settled on a date change and thought the R795 covered that. I requested a date change to the 17th May . I was given a fixed rate difference of R6320 for the date change for any date from now to 1 June. This rate is as good as a new flight and not the difference in fare between my original date return and requested new return date. Also, I found a new booking return fare for R5613 on the airline on the 17th May. So if i book a whole new return flight, it is still cheaper then the "rate difference" that travelstart has quoted. This is wholesale *******. I am a frequent flyer and will never book through travelstart again. I have made many date changes in the past with airlines and have never had to pay more then R1500. Also, one cannot speak to a person at travelstart. No one answers and one has to just listen to stupid voice recordings. By the way my original flight including return was R8152 .

Pertaining to our product the upgrade to a rebookable flight it states on the product itself: "Change the date of your flight up to 24 hours prior to departure without paying airline penalty and rebooking fees (Our admin fee). If the price of your rebooked ticket is higher, you'll pay the difference." now in this instance on the specific day you are looking for there is limited availability, meaning that only higher fare classes are available.
We understand your frustration in the matter, and while we realize that we cannot undo the frustrations caused we do hope you would allow us to give you some more options possibly looking at other dates where your fare class is available this will bring down the price drastically. Again all prices quoted is just the airline fare difference, so no penalties as these are covered by the product.
