Travel start & Qatar - think wisely before booking with them

I made a booking with Travel start in January 2022 to travel in June - before i left I checked my flight details and Qatar had changed the flight schedule - neither they nor travel start had bothered to advise me. Travel start was very helpful to change the booking. Upon my return date arrived at Gatwick only to discover that the flight back did not exist. Neither Travel start nor Qatar airways had advised me of changes. I had to purchase new tickets to get home - and now Travel start says they are only a booking agent and not liable and Qatar is non responsive..... Very very expensive lesson learnt - No help from either and nobody taking ownership of the problem either just passing the buck one to the other. Managed to get the portion of the ticket that i did not use back - but the cost of the new tickets that I had to purchase nobody is taking responsibility for.
