Travel Start - Chubb Insurance ****
<p>Please be warned about this ********* behaviour of selling car rental insurance by Travel Start and Chubb insurance.<br /> I booked a rental car on Travel Start in January and took out their recommended Insurance policy through Chubb Insurance, paid the car rental deposit, and the R950 insurance. I got the welcome email and policy wording via email, but nowhere in this process was the Access Deposit amount that they will require.</p> <p> </p> <p>Only a couple of weeks later when the rest of the money was taken of did the surprise come through, that they (Chubb) will require a R30 000 holding deposit on my Credit Cards (yes your read it correctly - R30 000) for the weeks car hire.</p> <p> </p> <p>At this stage, it was too late to cancel the policy without losing all the money as they only give you two weeks to cancel it. This is obviously done in this ********* way, as they know that most people will cancel and take out a different policy that only holds a 5-10 000 deposit if they know this from the start.</p> <p>Interesting how you only get the R30 000 deposit email after the cancellation time expired.</p>

"I would like to kindly point out that Chubb is an insurer and not the car rental company itself. Chubb unfortunately does not hold any authority in the quoted amount Of R30,000. The amounted quoted this is solely determined by the car rental company.
We (Hepstar) or Chubb unfortunately do not have any control this the excess amount, this solely a pre-requisite from the car rental company itself.
The insurance policy also does not decrease the excess amount, this is a reimbur*****t policy, which means that if there is rental damage to the car rental vehicle, and funds are deducted from the card holders account, the client then submits a claim and we then reimburse the client for the loss incurred. This is the fulfillment of the excess insurance policy.
