Rather book direct!
I booked a flight through travelstart as per passport which was still valid and in my ****en name, I had a break in and passport was taken. When I went to home affairs I had to change all into married surname .
When contacting travelstart to inform of change I was told straight out that nothing can be done and I must buy new ticket..I contacted emirates who said shouldn't be a problem but because I booked through travelstart they must contact emirates.
Very distressed and many many phone calls I came to terms with the fact I have to cancel the ticket, I then received a mail to say send marriage certificate and copy of new passport... To which I did and then got a message back to say nothing we can do you cancelled the ticket ??? I have since battled to get on the same flight as my husband and had to buy ticket at higher cost. Very very unhelpful company
Thank you for your feedback shared via Hellopeter.
As per my email, the confusion arose due to contact being made with several teams using these teams' different email addresses.
Generally the airlines do not permit name changes, except low cost carrier Mango Airlines. One of our teams however tried to assist by contacting the airline who advised to sent the documentation for consideration but that nothing could be guaranteed.
In the meantime you had confirmed to the refund quote, which resulted in the booking being cancelled. I note that you did book in your married name at a similar fare for the exact same flights as your husband.
We are currently in the process of following up with the airline regarding the refund as explained in my email to you.
Thank you again for sharing your concerns with us and allowing me to investigate and provide feedback.
