Marketing flawed services - woodford car rental

On 12 November, 2015, I used Travelstart to book air tickets as well as a car rental. The hotel system was a mix up and I booked that directly with the hotel.

Upon arrival at the airport, I went to Woodford Car Rentals and was told R4000 holding deposit is required (why was this not mentioned before). I swiped my card and R4000 was reserved for purchase. My contract. to which the receipt for the R4000 was stapled, stated I had booked a Suzuki Alto. Arriving at the collection point, I was given a Hyundai i10 manual, with no explanation, but I took it and went on my way. On Sunday I returned the vehicle. Then I received an emailed invoice for R430.57 that was promptly debited from my account. (The initial booking deposit was also promptly deducted prior to me leaving for Cape Town).

Monday I enquired when my R4000 will be refunded. I was told it was only blocked, & a release request was sent to the bank on Sunday night. I should expect 24/48 hours. That came & went. No money. Nobody trying to assist either. My account reflects R4000 reserved and until someone somewhere pushes a button, I have no access to it. Travelstart - I trusted you to deal with reputable companies. Mistake!

Hello Rudi1977,

Thank you for your feedback.

I do regret the issues experienced with our car rental partner. Generally, when renting a vehicle the car rental agent will place either a hold on the driver's credit card or take a deposit amount. This is dependent on the rental agent. The voucher also states that clients need to ensure they have sufficient funds available to cover the excess amount.

The car type for rent is mentioned online as well as on the voucher. It will state something to the effect of: \Economy car similar to Suzuki Alto\" as stated on your rental voucher.
