Flights cancellation sent in error, refusing to grant refund

On 31 May 2016 an email was sent to client advising him that his flight BA8720 LCY to GLA on 1 Jun 2016 : 8RTTXY was cancelled. Upon equiry, he was advised that the flight had not been cancelled and that he had missed his flight. The client attempted to reshedule without any joy and was forced to purchase a new ticket. The above mentioned flight was booked through Travelstart. The client then, as per travelstart, attempted to claim back the money he paid for the ticket he had to purchase in London, Your case reference is: ********** 4. Also without any joy. Both BA and Travelstart are refusing to take responsibility for a mistake they had made

Hi AnniV,

As per the communications, the airline had advised the client by email that the flight between London City airport and Glasgow had been cancelled. However, the flight had in fact operated as indicated by the airline staff at the airport.

When Travelstart was contacted, we could not assist with that particular flight. However, we did contact the airline to ensure that the remaining flights are not cancelled out of the booking due to an erroneous no-show status. We emailed these updated tickets to Mrs van Niekerk on 03 June.

I also provided the client feedback as given to Travelstart from the airline, that the client would need to contact the airline's customer relations department in order to submit a claim for the new ticket purchased.

I do regret that Travelstart is not able to assist with a refund of a ticket that was not purchased through us. This is the reason why, due to the circumstances explained above, the client was advised to contact the airline's customer relations department directly.

Kind regards,

Nazley
