C19 Travelban - increased flight prices
Return booking was made CPT/ORT and ORT/CPT. Due to travel ban imposed by government, my booking was placed on hold. I attempted to change the date to October 2020 and was informed that there would be a price difference of R820 due to NO FAULT of my own! This is highly inappropriate and unacceptable as I can simply not afford to pay this during this time. Travelstart is unapologetic and does not offer me a refund on the fees already paid.

Thank you for your feedback and allowing us the opportunity to respond to your concerns raised.
I have checked your booking and I see that you have booked to travel on Kulula.
As per the airline's directive we had received, please see below:
-----------------------------------------------------------• Travel must be within 12 months from the original date of travel – so you need to travel on/before 29 April 2021 - if you cannot travel then you will forfeit the full value of your ticket
• When you rebook there will be no date change penalty but any difference in fare and taxes will need to be collected – the cost will depend on what fare class is available and how flexible your new travel dates are
• You have the full value of the airfare paid to kulula on credit to use for your new flights
• If your new ticket is more expensive you will need to pay in the difference
• If your new ticket is less expensive then, the same fare will be matched and no difference will be paid back
• It has to be the SAME passenger travelling as the original traveller
• All fares are re-routable, so route changes are allowed (again if the new ticket is more expensive you will need to pay in the difference)----------------------------------------------------------- As you can see from the quote sent, the amount charged by Travelstart is only R99 per person:

The cost for the changes are as follows:
Airline Penalty Fee: Covdid 19 waiver
Airline Fare Difference: R130.00
Airline Tax Difference: R88.12 + R92.87
Travelstart Handling Fee: R99.00
Total: R409.99 per person per change (additional)
Kindly note, Travelstart acts as an agent for the airline, and our service as an agent is to make your booking, issue your tickets, and where necessary amend or cancel the booking etc. Therefore our part of the contract has been fulfilled. Agents are entitled to charge a fee for doing so. This is separate from the airline fees.
I do understand that this is frustrating and we do apologise for the inconvenience caused.
