Be aware of Travelstart's specials when you hire a car!!
We flew to Durban and booked a vehicle through Travelstart at a supposedly low rate of R384.00 per day and paid on booking. On arrival at King Shaka when we want to pick up the vehicle we discovered that a further deposit of R23000.00 is required!! When we want to cancel Travelstart refused because it was about 1 hour after pick up time. We didn't had the R23000 rand and the only option was to pay R6163.00 for another vehicle at First car Rental. Travelstart do not disclose all these prices upfront - the R384.00 is in bold print while the other amount in fine print at the bottom. We hired the exact same vehicle for R20000 cheaper how come?

as discussed on 24 November and today, the conditions of the car rental are shown on the website and in addition on the voucher which you take with you when you collect your car.
For each car rental option, there are specific conditions attached and the security deposit is different in each booking. We show this information online so that you can make the selection which is best suited to you. The car rental agency informed me, as I informed you ,that the car you rented through them on the day was in a different category, which is why the security deposit was much lower. We are sorry that you feel that the information was not shown clearly enough.
