Transux - What a bad experience

What an unhappy experience and unsafe experience. Firstly the temperature on the bus was 26 degrees. I had hot air blowing on my legs. At our first stop after slow cooking my legs, I asked the driver (Arthi) to turn the temperature down. He said he would but the heat continued to slow cook my legs. His solution was that the person sitting next to me should swop with me and that we should keep swoping our seats. He told me he had turned it down. He is either lying or the heat was above 26 before he turned it down. Be that as it may the temperature was uncomfortable and the hot air blowing directly on to my legs was unbearable.

I then thought that I would move as I had someone next to me. There were 6 seats in the front off the bus which were unoccupied (3 sets of 2 seats). When I moved the drivers bag to sit there I was told that those were the drivers seats and that I was not allowed to sit there. I was unhappy with it as no reasonable explanation was given to me as to why I could not sit on any of the 6 open seats.

I then asked driver for the supervisors number. He just said it is on the ticket. I tried calling all the numbers on the ticket to complain. Non of the phones were answered. I then got the 24 hour customer care number off the website. Again no one answers the 24 hour customer care line.

At our next stop I asked the driver for a good reason as to why I could not sit there. He mumbled some things while trying to think of a good reason. Then eventually he came up with the answer that if a mother and child board the bus they could sit there. I then answered that if that was the case I would move. He again Flatley allowed me to sit on any of the 6 vacant chairs.

At one of the stops, the driver purchased airtime. He then started to load the cell phone voucher onto his phone whilst he was driving. Thereafter he he continued to read messages that were comming through. He therefore took his eyes off the road on numerous occassions whilst he was focussing on the voucher and his cell phone. It is a proven fact that Texting whilst driving is a major contributor towards road accidents. He therefore was putting the lives of all passengers at risk.

I have now given Translux 3 opportunities (over a period of aboout 6 weeks) to respond to my complaint whihc I lodged on their customer care email address which I got off their website. I have not even had an acknowledgement of receipt. They simply just dont care about the customer and only pay lipservice to customer care by having a 24 hour telephone line and an email address. Noone does anything about it.

My dissatisfaction is therefore the following.
1) There does not seam to be a policy as to what a pleasant comfortable traveling temperature is.
2) The driver was not willing to assist me in making a 12 hour journey as comfortable as possible.
3) The driver was unfriendly.
4) Drivers can keep their luggage in the stowage compartment like all the others passengers in stead use their bags to take up prime seats on the bus.
5) customers travelling at night have nowhere to call if they are unhappy and therefore have to endure the rest of their journey unhappy. This does not show that translux is serious about customer care and satisfaction.
7)Translux should not advise 24 hour customer care lines if they are not going to be answered 24 hours.
8) The driver lacked customer care s****s

9) The bus drivers text whilst driving puting the lives of all passengers at risk.

I had a really poor response to my email which I sent to Translux. They simply offered me a R500 gift voucher. Well I never used the gift voucher and I have never used their services again. I have now found my home with Greyhound and am getting much better service.
