Customer to blame for bad system

I made a booking via telephone on the 20th of May 2015 and received a SMS confirming the booking for 2 passengers. The consultant (Buntle as I recall it), informed me to pay at a Pep stores to finalise the booking (REF NUMBER: SDE896).

At Pep Stores, Paarl Mall, they could not proceed with the payment and eventually phoned the Translux call centre who could not resolve the issue. I was then advised by the lady at Pep to try the payment at Checkers. So off I went to Checkers.

At Checkers they could not help me either, as the system reported the booking is not available on their system. I phoned Translux call center, who then cam up with the ridiculous excuse that Checkers split my booking in two. Hard for me to believe that this is the case if it is not even available on the system. After putting down the phone twice, the Translux call center consultant told me that I am to blame for this because I went to a Checkers and not a Pep.

To crown this, I was then told to phone back in an hour because reference numbers cannot be verified on the system (was that not the exact problem encountered at both Pep and Checkers!?).

Anyway, I told the consultant to cancel the booking.

Hello wpvking,

Thank you for bringing this matter to my attention.

We have for the time discontinued the payments as PEP stores as there is a IT related problem with their payments.
I have double checked the booking reference number supp**** and our system can truly not pull that booking up.

Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Regards.
