Vehicle Fire / Burnout of 2010 model RAV VX

I filled in a form on Toyota SA’s website depicting the vehicle fire of the 2010 model RAV VX. I tried as nice as possible to explain that I didn’t only lose personal possessions but also ‘peace of mind’ on the fateful night of 25 April 2017. Does the Toyota Brand even grasp what that means? What it feels like to be stuck in a burning car? Doors refuse to open as it went into lock mode as if the car was locked from outside! How the heat and the smell of burning plastic enter your dreams? No I severely doubt it.

From what we understand Toyota SA requested McCarthy Toyota Edenvale to make payment on an investigation that was done on the vehicle. Full Stop. No communication about the vehicle. Matter closed.

It has been a year without answers. Filling in a form and sending it back to Toyota SA without even as much as an acknowledgement of receipt feels like a time waster. I need to move on with my life and live without fear. Toyota SA please answer me!! No, I don't need another adverti*****t about the new RAV.

A recall of the RAV VX models was done in 2017. First there was a mention of a recall about a WAR Fire. Then denying thereof. Referring to a window master switch recall that took place during January 2017.

I need to know what caused the fire that night. Is that component/s also in other cars but only branded differently?

The insurance didn’t cover our personal belongings in the vehicle. Stupid things like you’re your cell phone, prescription sunglasses, GPS, alarm remote, gate remote, keys etc. They sure as hell are not paying for my hospitalisations and the expensive medication I take every day. Neither are they paying for the countless doctor visits when anxiety and fear strikes.

Does one always have to go public to get a Brand’s attention? I know I don’t own a Toyota anymore but as a loyal ex-Toyota customer for over 25 years, can you please answer me? 1. What caused the fire? 2. What happens to the expenses that I incurred during and after the fire?
