Toyota's Negligence / Poor Service

Dear Toyota

Let me take you through a series of unfortunate events that led me to believe that Toyota is the worst car dealership that ever existed under the sun.

On the 26th of September 2018, I took my car in for a normal service at Rola Toyota in Somerset West. Through the day the consultant named Mariette phoned me to inform me that my water pipe need to be fixed as well, I asked her if that is the only thing and also what the cost would be, as I was planning on driving from Somerset West to Port Elizabeth the next day.

She informed me that I need to get the water-pipe fixed if I plan on driving that far and that is the most important thing at the moment. I then looked at the flight prices from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth and the water-pipe prices which came out to more or less the same price, so I said it is fine she can go ahead and replace the water-pipe which is leaking.

The following day I paid the R7706.25 for the service and the water-pipe. Then after picking up the car the late afternoon, I went back to my flat and started to pack my car in order to hit the road towards Port Elizabeth. I started driving just after 19h00pm and 42km outside of Strand the car started to wobble and make loud noise when I stepped on the breaks as I started to reach Botrivier, I had no choice but to pull over and I phoned someone who informed me that I won’t be able to drive like that, I then had to turn around in the dark and drive back with a speed of 20 - 40. When I reached Strand again I had to look for alternative transport to Port Elizabeth, I eventually got a bus ticket for eh next morning at 06h00am (Extra Cost which I did not make provision for) when I reached Port Elizabeth the night eventually I had to Uber which was another cost which I did not account form, nevertheless I had to be in Port Elizabeth so I had Uber around the entire weekend, due to the inconvenience caused by Toyota.

Someone from the after service phoned me the next day to ask about my service and I explained what happened, she then said the branch manager would phone me back and he did, he said that when I am back in Strand I should bring the car in so he can look at it himself.

The Monday morning when I got back to Cape Town after taking another bus, I asked my friend to take in the car, and then Mariette phoned me back to say that the discs also need to be replaced it was the cause the shutter and wobble noise, and that It would be R4000 and odd to replace it. I asked her why she did not mention that in the first place, because if I knew that I would not have done the car and I would have just flown to Port Elizabeth and just done the car when I had money and could do it bit by bit, I also said that they should leave my car and I will take it to someone else to fix the disc, however she then said she will phone me back with another price, she then phoned back to say that she managed to get disc by MIDAS and that the cost would be R1601.03 (3rd October). She did not inform me of the T's and C's of using MIDAS products, and I said it is fine they can do it for that price.

Keep in mind the total for my car now stands at R7706.25 + R1601.03 paid by within a period from the 27th September - 03 October 2018. (Not to mention the already inconvenience of money spend in Port Elizabeth due to the uninformed information and negligence of Mariette)

THEN IT GETS BETTER! On the 21st of February my car starts to make the same shutter and wobble noise and I took it in the Thursday Morning, Mariette again phoned me late afternoon informing me that it is again the disc and that it needs to be skimmed and that it is safe to drive with the car as is, otherwise I need to pay again for them to fixed it, after only 4 months I was now really irritated, she explained that they did not use genuine Toyota parts and that the parts used did not have a warranty, I went it to go and fetch my car and she said that Unfortunately the Midas parts does not have a warranty and I asked her why she did not inform me in the first place, then I would haven't done my car at Toyota in the first place, (Thinking to myself why would you take your car to Toyota if they don't use proper Toyota parts, what is the point thereof)

So you all might think why I am complaining now, but this morning as I drove to Caledon, I stepped on my breaks and the car started to wobble and shutter so bad that the car almost tipped over, and I just wanted to inform you the negligence by your dealership could cause someone's life in the future.
