Toyota Warranty

Jan 2022 I bought a pre owned 2021 Toyota Starlet (Auto) at 17 000km, Took my car for service in August 2022 for 30000km, and I was told all is well. 25 Jan 2023 (car at 39 000km) I got stuck on the freeway( with no warning lights prior) , took the car to Toyota in Gezina as it’s still under warranty and the car has been there for over a month. Now I’m being told that I have to pay 50% for the engine replacement, the warrant won’t pay the whole claim, since the can’t prove factory fault but also can’t prove negligence. This is the worst service I ever got, I bought a Toyota as I knew it’s reliable and I can drive the car for years before experiencing any major issues, Engine replacement was not what I was expecting after driving the car for a year.
