So I bought a brand new Toyota Urban Cruiser December 2021 On the 8th of Jan 2022 at 1am we were on our way back from a road trip. Near Senekal in the free state on route to Durban we heard a knock sound. We stopped to refuel in Senekal. This is where the petrol attendant alerted us that all the fuel was gushing out from underneath that car. The fuel tank had been punctured. We contacted Toyota rd assist and did get assistance. However we wre horrified as I never heard of such a incident. I feel that the fuel tank is made of sub standard material and is very weak for this to have happened. Toyota SA is saying they take no liability for this. I fear for my safety in driving this vehicle if the tank simply gets replaced as this could happen again. There is no other damage to the car except for a whole in the fuel tank. Please advise to a way forward and my recourse.
