TOYOTA SA REPLACE WARANTY CLAIMS WITH SECONDHAND SPARES
I bought a brand new Toyota Hi Lux 4x4 in 2019 and experience problems with the vehicle radio system from the time I received the vehicle. The vehicle had the original radio replaced already twice. Not once the problems was fixed. On the 29th February 2010 I had a appointment to replace the radio the 3rd time at the dealer. I was present and they took apart my vehicle dashboard. When the new radio was taken out of the box I noticed that it was a old used radio in a very poor condition. The radio was 2nd hand and I then instructed the technician to put my vehicle dashboard back together. It was clear Toyota SA replace new faulty parts with 2nd hand parts when a warranty claim gets submitted. It is also clear to me know that the reason my radio problem are not addressed is that they keep on replacing the faulty radios with other 2nd hand faulty radios taken from other vehicles. I am disgusted and have no trust in Toyota South Africa. The dealer informed me on Monday the 2nd March 2020 that it is policy that radios get replaced with refurbished radios taken out of other vehicles. The dealer however did not want to provide me with the policy as he indicated it is internal documents. I really wonder how many Toyota owners are aware that warranty claims result the replacement of parts with refurbished second hand parts?
