Toyota Richards Bay
Dissapointingly, this would be my 3rd rant about the same issue. Having purchased a RAV 4 2 years ago, I picked up from the early days, the periodic freezing of the screen for the reverse camera. Unfortunatley the dealership ( Richards Bay) gave me the run around, asking me to record on my phone, on each instance i engage reverse. I subsequenty reffered my matter via email to Toyota SA. They ignored every email, and only responded once I posted on hello peter. Toyota SA laid blame on the service advisor . The dealership then took the car in and with doing much investigation, changed the front screen. Unfortunatley this did not solve the problem. I called the dealership service advisor, who refferred matter to service Manager, who was to call me. After a few weeks of waiting for this manager to call me, I called again, and once again told that the service manager will be calling me. Well a few weeks later, an unexpected call from Bidvest, to confirm that I received A class service from my last intercation. I bluntly explained my situation of waiting for her Excellancy Service Manager to call on the servant. The next day the service manager called me, albeit a few months later. She advised that only option is for me to to and record an instance were I experience the problem. The opportunity arose on 7 July when I took a video and sent it to her. She acknowledged reciept on 08 July 2024. On 24 July 2024 after hearring nothing since sending the video, I asked for feedback through her whatsapp. Message read but unsurprisingly no response. Tonight in a busy parking, i engaged reverse and when hearing a Tud, i realised i knocked a plastic shopping cart behind me. Once again, my camera had frozen, and I failed to realise this. My fault yes, I should be observant and not really on camera aids. I supposse Toyota will simply wait this out for about 10 more months and then say sorry sir, your vehicle is out of warranty. As an ardent Toyota fan, I am now starting to see the sun in the Chinese horizon. In the past few years I have aquired 5 vehicles through the same Bidvest Toyota division, however every great prior experience, one of which was published in your magazines, has now been minisculed to litterally nothing.
