Toyota Hyde Park - Accident damaged car

Last month I was in the market for a used vehicle. I saw a white 2018 Toyota corolla 1.8 CVT available at Hyde Park Toyota. Upon viewing the vehicle I noticed that the vehicle was in a front and rear accident and was repaired very poorly.

I asked the sales lady if there was any accident history on the vehicle and she couldn't confirm. She asked her manager, who is apparently the assessor as well, to verify any accident history. We met Marcel, who seemed like he was having bad day and didn't have the time for me. I asked if there was any accident history on the vehicle, he confirmed that there was repairs done to the front left fender. He pointed out that the fender was kept on the vehicle when it was repaired and that caused a problem with the bumper lining up. I then pointed out to him that the right rear tail light did not line up with the bumper or fender line, and that there was an orange peel effect on the paintwork due to poor panel beating and spraying. He said it can be fixed. I pointed out a crack in the paintwork where the boot lid meets the bumper, he arrogantly says "anything can be fixed". This vehicle apparently passed a quality check.

We proceeded to the front of the vehicle and opened the bonnet. To my surprise the bracket that mounts the left headlight to the body was broken in 2 pieces and barely making contact. It was clear the vehicle was in a front accident. The most shocking part of this viewing was when Marcel told me that "the headlight is expensive to replace and he will not replace it, but he will use super glue to fix the bracket". I laughed with amazement and left.

Service like this can be expected from a ***** dealership. It is shocking that Toyota Hyde Park employs a "manager" who has pathetic customer service ethics.

I then drove to Freeway Toyota in Ormonde where I bought my new vehicle. Also a 2018 1.8 CVT corolla, with lower mileage and an extended service and warranty plan. The service at Freeway Toyota was amazing.

I would strongly advise anyone purchasing a vehicle from Toyota Hyde Park to take someone knowledgeable on cars and repairs with them to avoid being **********.

I see now the vehicle is still for sale at a reduced price. Was R279900, now R264995. 2018 Corolla 1.8 CVT, white, 67000km mileage. The sales lady Thando was very helpful, unfortunately her manager's attitude lost her the sale.
