Toyota Hilux unreliable! #Toyota SA

My Toyota Hilux Legend 50 has 38 838Km's on the clock and on my way back from holiday between Beau-fort West and Graaff Reinet my bakkie broke down. I was towed to Graaff Reinet to Drostdy Toyota. I was informed by them that they needed a couple of days to diagnose the problem.

I therefore booked accommodation in Graaff Reinet and the next morning hired a bakkie to proceed home.

About 2 days later I was informed that the turbo was blown and that my bakkie was no longer covered under Toyota warranty. The guys at Drostdy Toyota really put up a fight with Toyota SA and in the end an agreement was reached that Toyota will pay for the turbo but I had to pay for other parts and labour.

Once my bakkie was repaired I had to fly down to PE, rent a car to drive to Graaff Reinet, stay overnight and return to Centurion.

This experience cost me about R20k.

This incident occurred on 11 Dec 2023. I was told that by warranty had expired on 31 Oct 2023, which I was very surprise at since I bought the bakkie in Feb 2021 as 2021 model.

I have tried to contact Toyota Customer Services on telephone and e-mail to discuss the situation to no avail.

I bought a Toyota because of their claimed reliability, but a turbo blowing out with under 40 000km's on the clock I did not expect.

The guys at Drostdy Toyota in Graaff Reinet were extremely helpfull and accommodating and I can recommend them, however the response and no-reponse from Toyota SA is unacceptable.
