Toyota doesn't honor its warrantee
1st, let me say thanks for a VERY NICE car that I bought NEW from Toyota in 2019.
Now, let me unpack 3 years of "why can't Toyota sort out **** in 3 years?"
So.... Lets go...
Bought a brand new 2.8GD6 Fortuner for CASH... Like the car, but it has a few small details that I picked up over the initial ownership..
1st time washing the car.... found:
1. A loose " Outer C Pillar" trim piece that pops out and vibrates as the wind cathes it making this "VVVVRRRRR" sound at certain speeds....
2. A missing engine bay trim piece clip
3. Rear bumper seemed a bit out of alignment....
Reported this to the salesman (i still have the whatapp conversation)...
Was told it will be resolved....
Was back at Toyota the following weeks to have something sorted out on my "Toyota connect" as my car was sold in Sept 2019, and all Toyotas after Sept 2019 get this "Connect" thing.... anyway the car is there, they do their thing, I tell them about the issues.....
Get the car back, issue 1,2 and 3.... just none attended to.... I (im a body shop engineer I know how cars are built) and I "pop" the rear bumper into the clips that it's not in properly, looks 95% OK, but still not quite in yet....
Ok.... live with this until my 10 000km (1yr) service.... make the appointment, they ask me about any issues, I say "yes, pls look at issue 1,2 and 3 that was neglected) , drop the car off (My GF did)... get the car back... nothing done....
So... car drives wonderful, ect.... except the little snags (Issue 1,2 and 3), not life threatening but also not right hey...
20 000km service (2 yr).... give the car to the service guy (different one from last time), point issue 1,2 and 3 out..... Issue 2 gets sorted.... issues 1 and 3 are not tended to.... well.... 33%.... guess like the SA school system....
Also get a new cell phone, try to plug into the USB plug and doesn't go into the USB plug, I take video and pics and send this to the service man that helped me and his answer is "You have it plugged in upside down" (I have this whatsapp as well).... I tell him that I tried both ways, it doesn't fit, but Ill have this sorted out next time i come around....
So I'm out of town monday to fridays and not too fased about a USB plug that doesnt quite work...
Now, 30 000km (3yr) service.... YES, I ONLY DRIVE 10 000km PER YEAR WITH MY FORTUNER....
Take it for its service, point out that these issues were identified all within the warrantee period... of which I have all the whatsapps....
Car goes for its service....
Issue 1 is resolved (according to Toyota) - Thanks Issue 2 was resolved last year - Thanks Issue 3 - Toyota claims bumper is clipped in, I know... I popped it it myself after they just left it with a 5mm gap.... now if it falls off the car now? They just going to shrug their shoulders??
And then the USB port...... yes.... the USB port....
I was told "Sorry the car is out of warrantee"
I asked how that can be? And by chance saw the name plate of the guy that helped me last time, and I read out his cell number... Yep, it was him.... and I showed them both me reporting the faulty USB port....
And was told the manager will phone....
its been a week... still waiting hey
Got a call from the service manager at Toyota (Jacques) and was told that Toyota will honor the faulty USB port warrantee....
Seems that bad publicity is the norm with getting things done......
But thank for the call 2 weeks and 1x bad review later....
