Toyota Avanza 1.5 VVTi engine failure

<p>while driving the vehicle a week ago it suddely cut out and ran rough when restarted and lacked power .The next day I took it into Buffalo Toyota East London to have the problem repaired.The cause was diagnosed as two mushroomed sparkplugs and these were replaced.</p> <p>The car had power, but idled roughly, which Toyota could not give a satisfactory cause or solution for.</p> <p>One week later while driving the car , there was a frightening engine noise and the car stopped immediately and would not restart. I suspect timing chain failure brought about by running the car (only 20km) on only two cylinders.</p> <p>I am awaiting Buffalo Toyota's analysis . Has anyone else with a Toyota VVTi experienced a similar problem?</p> <p>Garth Roodt</p>
