Toyota... A poor brand with disgusting Service
I am a very concerned customer who is shocked and appalled by the service received at Toyota South Africa. I purchased a 2021 Toyota Agya on the 29th May 2021 from Bidvest McCarthy Toyota Durban North. On the 23rd July 2021, the vehicle was used to visit the quick shop at the garage which is less than 5 minutes away from home. The vehicle started perfectly when I left my home. Upon starting the vehicle to return home, the vehicle refused to start. The vehicle was completely dead. The dashboard did not have lights at all. I contacted Toyota Roadside Assist and the vehicle was towed to a venue unknown to me as the dealership was closed. They towing service was supposed to take the vehicle to Toyota Durban South however on 24th July 2021, I contacted Toyota Roadside Assist and requested that the vehicle be towed to McCarthy Edwin Swales as this was closer to home(I was unaware where the vehicle was going on Friday until the towing service advised me). I contacted the dealership on 26th July 2021 and was advised that the vehicle was still not starting and the workshop foreman(Adrian) advised me that I need to call Bidtrack and request they check the tracking device installed. Bidtrack visited the dealer on Tuesday 27th July and confirmed that the issue is not the tracking device however they were asked to remove the device so that the dealership could run some tests. On Wednesday, 28th July the foreman contacted me and advised that the vehicle is starting. I advised the foreman that I still require him to conduct all diagnostic tests on my vehicle to rule out any issues as both the dealer and Bidtrack claim the fault is with each other. He confirmed that same will be done. On Thursday, 29th July the foreman requested that I contact Bidtrack again and request that the techniciam re-fit the tracking device. The device needed to be charged for 24 hours before the vehicle could be tested again. On Friday, 30th July I was advised by the foreman that vehicle is starting again and I can pick up the vehicle. The vehicle was picked up on Saturday, 31st August, I requested the diagnostic report which I was told is with the foreman who was not at work but was assured that this will be attached to my job card. I spoke to the dealer workshop manager who assured me that the vehicle will start going forward and the issue will not happen. This is a new vehicle which had less that 200km on the clock when this incident took place. Toyota is a reputable brand and that is the reason I chose to invest in this vehicle. I needed a full investigation into this as I cannot pay for an asset that is going to be problematic. I currently have no peace of mind as both parties are not willing to take responsibility and admit where the fault lies. I was contacted by aYasin Morgan and I am extremely disgusted with the conversation. He became agitated towards the end of the call which is extremely unacceptable raising his voice, very poor service. He kept saying Toyota will not replace the battery, at no point did I even ask fit for this. The person representing your brand is shocking the way an already unhappy customer is addressed. I disconnected call due to his rudeness. I have valid concerns, he advised me to drive the car once a week to ensure the battery doesn’t die however this is exactly what I have been doing. I drive my car twice a week and yet the battery still died. It wasn't dead when the car was started at home but after driving to shop and upon return which is shocking because how can a vehicle be driven perfectly then suddenly die? If this is the way customers are treated at Toyota then I will never purchase a Toyota again, clearly not a trusted brand. I was promised that his manager will contact me however to date this hasn't happened. It is over a week, a message was also left with a Godfrey. It is evident why staff behave in this manner, clearly there is no accountability. The staff and managers that represent your brand are totally shocking.
