Toyota 86 engine seized at 43 000km!

<p>I bought a new Toyota 86 just over three years ago, as a 50th birthday present to myself. The engine seized under normal highway driving conditions. Toyota Halfway (Fourways - Willie Visser and Jan Peyper (Service Advisor)) assessed the engine and said I had mis-shifted and over revved the engine, interesting as I was driving and can assure you this was not the case, it was morning traffic on the highway to work.</p> <p>It was then sent (with my consent) to a independent Engineering Company who disassembled the engine and concluded that it was over revved. I had a three way discussion with them arranged by Toyota Head Office (Faheem Flashman) and Sean (from the Engineering Company) agreed that the failure could have occured well within the specification, at 5000rpm (the vehicle is rev limited at 7000 rpm).</p> <p>Toyota have concluded that I mis-shifted the vehicle (I received a copy of the email) and are unwilling to assist in any way. I don't think this is "The Real Deal" as Toyota say in their adverti*****ts, surely one can expect that if a vehicle with less than 45000 km which was correctly maintained and driven should fail Toyota should have some liability?</p>
