Terrible service from Toyota
In March 2019 I bought a used Toyota Fortuner, and I took it to Lynnwood Toyota on 18 March 2019 for a complete check –up. They replaced the shocks and the fan belt, and the day after they returned the car to me, I drove to Herm****. Between Middelburg and Graaff Reinet, the new fan belt started unraveling, leaving me stranded in the middle of the Karoo. Drosdy Toyota in Graaf Reinet informed me that fan belt was incorrectly fitted by Lynnwood Toyota. They replaced the fan belt, and told me that the faulty fan belt may have also damaged the crankshaft pulley seal. I drove to Herm****, where I found that the car had developed a bad engine oil leak, due to the damaged crankshaft pulley oil seal. Herm**** Toyota replaced the leaking seal for me. On 29 March 2019 I informed Lynnwood Toyota that I wished to be reimbursed for the replacement of the fan belt and oil seal, which cost me R3,315.03 to repair. Eventually after numerous phone calls and emails, I received an email from Toyota Lynnwood stating that they were willing to refund the cost of the repairs if I sent them proof of banking. This could either be a cancelled cheque, or a letter from my bank. I do not possess a chequebook, which means I will be forced to drive to the bank and stand in a queue to obtain a letter of proof of banking. Needless to say, this is adding insult to injury - why can’t they simply refund the money into the account which I used to pay them for the faulty workmanship? I did not ask Lynnwood Toyota for proof of banking when I paid them for the faulty workmanship. Instead of visiting my bank for a letter of proof, I would rather donate the money to Lynnwood Toyota so that they can properly train their mechanics
