R555K for a Toyota Hilux 30D4D - Engine Failure.

I purchased my new Hilux D/C 30D4D (BD78DTGP) from Monument Toyota Constantia in 2011 for R420K. In 2014 the engine gave in after only 216,000Km - holes in the cylinders and who-knows-what. Conclusion - buy a new engine at R135K (from Monument Toyota Constantia).<br> <br> Remember - this vehicle was sent to Monument Toyota for the suggested 10,000Km interval service from day 1, without skipping even a single service.<br> <br> The service manager, Gustav Pelser, basically shrugged his shoulders and blamed SA's dirty fuel. I asked for statistics on this particular type of failure, sighting that 1: If this failure is common, then the vehicle should not be marketed in SA, and 2: If the failure is not common, there must have been some fault with this specific vehicle (or perhaps the service). In both cases it is clear that I should not have paid for the repair/replacement of the engine.<br> <br> Of course I never got the statistics and the matter was brushed aside without even as much as a \Sorry Mr Otto that you had to pay R420
