Involved in smash and grab: No replacement window
I own a toyota land cruiser 4x4 vehicle - I was involved in a smash and grab incident. My insurance informed me today that toyota can only supply the replacement glass in 21 working days - completely unacceptable! I basically have no vehicle for a month! The parts manager at my local toyota branch confirmed that no glass is available at the factory or at any branch, mainly because \it is a slow item"therefore there is a policy to \""not keep stock\"". Toyota has to order from overseas. How is that for poor customer service - surely a security item like replacement glass should be kept in stock! This is not an uncommon vehicle on South Africa's roads!

I made contact with toyota's \""customer care\"" line: They indicated as follows:
1) I have not placed an order
2) I am not the one who has to order the window - the insurance company places the order
Therefore toyota can't take a compliant from me on the matter. I was told that I can't even get a reference number.
I tried to escalate to a manager - he/she was not available - do they not work on Friday afternoons?

It is lamentable that the part is not available"
