I'm Outraged by the outrageous quote for my GPS upgrade!!!
I went to have my car serviced it is still under Warranty. I asked the dealership to update my GPS. After trying since the middle of last year to achieve this. First I was told they didn't have the software for 2020 bare in mind it was the last quarter of 2020 and this was after sitting at the dealership for over 2 hrs awaiting them to install it only to be told after sitting there for over 2 hours that they didn't have the software. Then went back in Dec to be told that they've withdrawn the software and are awaiting the 2021 software. Last year I was told that there's no charge involved. This year they quoted me R4500 and said its not covered by the Warrenty. I contacted Toyota South Africa after checking with another dealership whom said there was no charge but they were awaiting a part to install. I spoke to a manager at Toyota South Africa head office in Sandton and enquired as to why all of a sudden from R0 it now cost R4500. You can buy a mid range new system for less than that!! I was told they would look into it and get back to me. That was Wednesday afternoon they said I would have an answer by Thurs afternoon latest. Of course I've heard NOTHING from therm. Toyota is a mid range car. I paid over R20 000 more for the model with the GPS system and a few extras. I have never paid more than R2800 for a service where do they get off charging R4500 for a annual licence on a GPS with a Toyota version of a Garmen. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!!! I own a Yaris not a Lexus!!! This is highway *******. I've been driving Toyotas for over 30 years this is the first time I've complained about a price. I buy Toyota for their reliability and AFFORDABILITY. I AM FUMING and highly disappointed in them. I have NEVER had anything but praise for Toyota until now.
