********** Activities

On the 27 May 2016, I purchased a vehicle from a Dealership of Toyota SA with Full Service History ONLY to find out that this vehicle from Toyota SA approved run Dealership was **********ly sold to me, making believe that the said vehicle had a Full Service History. Upon requesting the Service History for this vehicle, I found that this vehicle was +- 10000 kms, overdue for its First Service. When I addressed this with the applicable persons from Toyota, voicing my concerns about the Warranty and the Potential Damage to the Engine and related Mechanical Components and its Integrity, I was told that Toyota will absorb all these risks involved for the lifespan of this vehicle. I requested this commitment from Toyota formally and received none to date.

- I drove this vehicle for +- 2 days after the sale and returned it back to the Dealership for Numerous Faults to be rectified, including the Gearbox and Tappets (Hydraulic Lifters) being problematic. Refer to the Job Card: (awaiting copies of my file)

2. Before accepting this vehicle, I pointed out to the Personnel at Toyota that the Documentation was not correct and **********. I also expressed my Utter Displeasure with this purchase and that this Transaction was **********, hence I do not accept this vehicle. The Registration of this vehicle has not been done to date and the License Disc has expired to date.(19/10/2016)

- I book this vehicle in for correction of the above, plus the other faults that was obviously noticeable.

3. I was then given a Loan vehicle, which is un-roadworthy. I immediately contacted the Dealership and informed them that the loan vehicle was making some very obvious loud noises from the rear. To this liking, I shall personally confirm through an assessment on the Loan Vehicle, to confirm the Pathetic Low Standard of Treatment and consideration of Toyota’s Clients, namely, myself. Cost shall be reserved, regarding the Loan vehicle.

4. Whilst returning from a Business Trip, from the Coast, the left window collapsed. This was a massive inconvenience for me as it was in the early parts of the morning, at around 02:00 am, after Harrismith, in Winter.

- I contacted Toyota and booked the vehicle in for the window, a 30 000kms service, the Gearbox and to correct the obvious faults. Refer to Job Card: (awaiting copies of my file)

- I was then contacted by the Service Manager of Toyota and he told me that I was to pay an amount that could range from R4800 to R9000, to the damaged gearbox. I refused this. After raising my concerns with him and elaborating that this vehicle has been sold to me **********ly and that the first service was not done, he undertook to raise the matter with the General Manger of Toyota

- Photographs are available if needed.

5. I then cut short my scheduled engagements and drove to Toyota, where I documented the damages to the gearbox and other aspects. I also requested a Full Copy of my Vehicles File to substantiate my case to the relevant authorities. This I shall fetch on 25 August 2016.

- The General Manager then confirmed that the Loan Vehicle was un-roadworthy via the Service Manager, and still did not correct himself after I awarded him this opportunity. This is a disgusting application of a person that is in a position of Authority at Toyota and a poor example to the rest of the staff.

6. After a lengthy meeting I concluded the following, with witnesses present:

a. That this was a demo-vehicle from a Toyota Branch

b. There is a question around the PDI??

c. The 101 Check was not conducted at all by Toyota. Confirmed by Toyota Personel, names of which I have.

d. The 10 000 km Scheduled service was not conducted. Hence the first service was 10 000 km’s overdue!!

e. The Registration of the vehicle was still outstanding and that the License Disc is expired!

f. The Roadworthy Test was supposedly conducted in May 2016 and has now expired due to the time taken for the Registration.

7. As a long standing customer of Toyota, I am extremely disgusted with this service. I have no confidence in this vehicle that I purchased, as it was **********ly Sold to me. On numerous occasions, I have addressed this issue and awarded this dealership the opportunity to correct this situation and to date I do not have a proposition of resolution for my consideration. I do not accept this vehicle and want this matter addressed immediately.

8. Note: that I utilise this vehicle for Business Purposes and at present, I am sustaining cost implications due to being restricted to travelling etc.

9. I am calling for resolution, immediately, as I am adamant to escalate this entire situation as well as Toyota, to the highest level to expose this Business Motor Industry for its extremely low standards. I shall reserve my rights to pursue accordingly.

10. I also reserve my rights to further implicate Toyota after full review of the History regarding this vehicle and engaging in third parties.

This is extremely unacceptable for a Company like Toyota SA with no Resolution to this Day dont get yourself in the same situation. A Warning to all ! Be Aware when Purchasing a Toyota.
