factory fault on Toyota CHR CVT plus. TOYOTA REFUSING RESPONSIBILITY
I have been a Toyota customer since 2011 to date and have always received the best customer service with anything and everything i ever needed.
I am now on my second purchase with them, a Toyota CHR CVT plus 1.2, traded my first purchase with them to get the CHR.
On the 25th March I took my car in for a service and less than 2 weeks later on the 7th April it broke down while i was driving on the N@ on my way to work, it would not go into gear.
Called Toyota and they towed the car away to CMH TOYOTA UMHLANGA who would have a look to see what cause the mul-function of my gearbox.
Few days later I was advised that the entire gearbox would need to be replaced. my car is currently out of warranty. This car is an automatic vehicle, all service intervals up to date and has no outside work done on the vehicle. For an automatic vehicle gearbox to mul-function with no warning lights, no alerts absolutely nothing to indicate there was an urgent issue is quite shocking. This goes to question the safety of this vehicle as this happended to me while driving with multiple other road users and only god knows what would have happened had i not been able to slow down the car and park on the side of the road and wait for road side assistance. Today im still stuck with the trauma of that incident. How does such a reputable organisation have such things happen and refuse to be accountable for it.
Me and my husband took the matter up with TOYOTA head office and sadly and with great disappointment we were only offered a 50% discount to the full replacement cost of R130354.14. I have no contribution to the factory fault of this vehicle, this is an automatic car and quite strange how it did a complete breakdown less than 2 weeks of the car being taken in for a regular service yet nobody at Toyota can explain why this mulfunction happened nor are they taking responsibility for it.
Why am i the one to pay for fix a factory fault on their automatic vehicle as i have not caused the breakdown. i have been without a vehicle since 7th April till date, and have not been given a curtesy car either. For TOYOTA to come back and give such an unreasonable and unfair offer is really insulting highly offensive and displays huge lack of accountability on their part.
i can begin to explain the result of the trauma and high stress levels that is a direct result of all this. Toyota is in no way taking responsibilty. the very same car is a car that is not even in their production line and that raises the question as to why, it only recently hit the market and now its no longer on offer?? HUGE RED FLAGS there, how does my car come back and breakdown after a service, another huge red flag yet today im being held accountable for something I have no hand in causing.
i know a family member who the same vehicle and also experienced the same after taking her car in for a service it broke down completely. Why id TOYOTA not being held accountable for their factory faults that have pout people's lives in danger, how is right for me to be treated in such a gross manner and nobody cares to take the responsisbility and do the right thing.
This is not fair business practice and I am being done a great deal of injustice and I want this resolved at no cost to me.... This is a factory fault and TOYOTA needs to step up and take accountability for it.
