Entrapment, Exploitation and poor adherence to Consumer Protection Act

<p>Toyota in the East Rand, I never thought that my Thursday would end up being a horrible day. I have sent a message to Toyota privately in the hope that I will get some feedback relating to future improvements in the East Rand Toyota so that nobody else is exploited by this dealership. I phoned in to take my cousins car for a service as my sister is using mine (also a Toyota). The lady told me about additional services that are being offered by Toyota to which i stated that I would get back to her about as the vehicle is not mine. She notified me that she has added a tag stating that I will verify if those additional services will be performed or not. Upon taking the car in, my service agent asked me for my keys, told me to sign a document stating that i brought the car in and gestured me toward the waiting area. Stressed out about getting to work on time, i did not question the document that I had signed. Upon returning to the dealership, i had been informed that all of the extra services had been performed on my car. My service advisor avoided me and the lady who took down the booking accused me of lying and requesting the additional services as well as indicating my signature that approved. The service advisor told her to just refund me as he was avoiding me. She proceeded to argue with him in Afrikaans stating that I was willing to pay the entire amount so why should she discount me. He continued to insist that she just discount me and after the third time, she added a 10% discount. It is not the money that concerns me, it is instead the exploitation and entrapment that i felt in this situation. Toyota seems to be fine with the terrible services that are offered at Toyota. However, I just want to advise others to be alert and avoid signing documentation at this Toyota as they arent transparent in their dealings. Also insist on a quotation just to cover yourself and ensure that you are being charged for the services that you requested.</p>
