Defective brakes and my safety

Bought a new Etios from Culemborg Toyota 3 years ago. Started to have brake problems shortly after buying it, mainly a grinding noise. When I took it in I was amazed to find that Toyota actually knew there was a problem with some Etios's, but had simply failed to notify customers that they might experience this. Problem one. Once it was returned, the brakes went back to making the same terrible grinding noise very soon. I called, and was assured there were no safety issues, but asked to bring it back in again. This pattern was repeated 4 times at least, all with no resolution. All along, Culemborg kept telling me there was no problem with safety. I noted that this did no seem credible to me - how can you say there is not a safety problem if you can't fix the problem in the first instance?? Anyway, eventually Toyota South Africa are notified by Culemborg (who, incidentally, had imp**** to me early on that they were aware of my problem), apparently a new brake set is sent down, and I am told that the problem is solved, once and for all. Well, hardly. The grinding sound is back, worse than ever. And all they can say is bring it back in...again??? So, in all reasonableness, I say I don't want this car anymore. It's a lemon. Either give me a new car or pay me back the initial purchase price and I'll go buy a Hyundai or Kia. They are not even willing to entertain this. So my questions to Toyota Culemborg and SA are as follows: 1) how can you assure me there are no safety issues with my brakes when you have failed to fix the problem 6 times 2)how many times do you expect me to take time off to get the car back to you? 10? 20? 30? Before you do the right thing and either give me a new car or pay me back my money.

SA consumer law is on my side here, but I guess they are playing the usual game. I have to initiate expensive proceedings against them while they sit on their hands. Enough for me to migrate to the Koreans who at least give good service according to all my friends who own one.
