Bought a new Toyota to avoid this very situation.

I purchased a Corolla Prestige 1.8 MT new in March 2020. The purchase for me was one of usual confidence in Toyota vehicles. I have never owned any vehicle other than a Toyota. I have also NEVER serviced any of my Toyotas anywhere else than at a Toyota dealership.

It is with horror that I started observing a humming sound coming from the car in certain gears. During the last service at Toyota Paarl, I was assured it's nothing to worry about and that gearbox oil that was replaced would resolve it. Unfortunately, the sound re-appeared a few days later.

Although purchased in 2020, the vehicle only has 69000 km on the clock.

Toyota's response after lengthy discussions and escalating to Toyota SA: "Not our problem. You dish out R37 000 to investigate."

Save to say that I am extremely disappointed and have lost most trust in Toyota products.
