Appalling lack of customer service from Toyota
I took my car, a Toyota Tazz, which is approximately 20 years old, to one of the Toyota service centres in Johannesburg North in late October last year. Apart from needing a general service, I was told my car had been overheating which meant I was without a car for about 2 weeks while the necessary work was carried out. My car was eventually returned, only to then have to take it back to Toyota twice as it was still not performing properly. To cut a long story short, I was without a car for the better part of a month, and the total cost came to around R50,000. However, about a month ago I noticed my car is overheating again, so it appears the underlying problem was not fixed. I can’t even drive 5 kilometres without the temperature gauge almost going into the red zone! Since I no longer have any confidence in the ability of the branch that serviced my car to fix it, I e-mailed Toyota customer service centre about this problem. They rep**** the first couple of times and said that a consultant would contact me, but I'm still waiting 3 weeks later. I have followed up with them twice more, but now I am completely ignored. Does no one at Toyota care about customer satisfaction? They sent me a “customer feedback” survey last year while they were still working on my car - by the time I had enough information to provide my feedback (which would have been negative) the link had expired! I find Toyota’s attitude to customer service, or lack thereof, absolutely appalling. I can assure you, based on my experience, I will NEVER buy another Toyota.
