Apathetic Toyota Hatfield Branch

My Toyota Etios is exactly three years old. The mileage is only at 20 000 km. The car is therefore considered a demo model and is still in excellent condition. I had my car serviced on 06 January 2017, which was its annual service.

This morning the car would not start at all. I phoned Toyota Hatfield at 08:00 and was told that the lady who was appointed to my car service two weeks ago would phone me back. I explained the urgency to the person that took the message.

No one phoned me back. At 08:50 I phoned the dealership again and explained that my car would not start. I was put through to the foreman of the workshop.

I explained that the battery could be faulty and asked why a faulty battery could not be identified during my service two weeks ago. The foreman was defensive and unsympathetic from the first word. He indicated that they do not pick up faulty batteries during the service, which I find strange. He did not at all validate my frustration in the situation.

Upon informing the branch manager of the foreman's defensive and unsympathetic attitude, she was equally apathetic about the situation. Neither the manager nor the foreman apologised for the frustration I experienced with a new Etios two weeks after its full service.

No one offered solutions to the problem oor took initiative. I asked that someone come to my house and inspect/take the car for testing. I requested a courtesy car for the day and was informed that Toyota Hatfield has no coutersy cars available in situations such as this. This is unacceptable as dealerships generally have spare cars available for customers.

Two workshop staff members arrived at our home. No initial impression of what could be wrong as shared by them. Just a dead silence while I stand next to my car. I asked what the procedure would be next and they indicated they would do testing and let me know.

Once again, not apologies for my inconvenience or frustration.

Toyota is an international brand that should act with international customer care standards.
