A Defective Toyota Corolla
We bought a brand new Toyota Corolla in March 2017. Within 6 hours the first dashboard rattle started. As we were driving to the coast the next day, we took it to Shelly Beach Toyota that same week. They tried to repair the rattle but every time it got worse. We sent it back 3 times on the same job repair card. Back in Johannesburg, we then sent it to Halfway Toyota in Northgate for repairs. It's subsequently been back TWELVE TIMES according to our records. They've booked it in about 6 times, but every time we send it straight back to try and fix again, 2 or 3 times on each repair. I've documented each dashboard rattle on video and sent it to the Dealer Principle. Their D.P. has been very helpful and tried everything under the sun to fix our problem, but nothing has helped. Now in desperation we have escalated to Toyota South Africa. Toyota S.,A. has not been helpful in the slightest. We've called them about 6 times now and still nothing has been done. Our Corolla rattles permanently. It's been the most frustrating ownership experience of my life. I've owned many types of vehicles over the years. I can honestly say I HATE and DESPISE our Corolla. Most of our friends and family are always surprised to hear about our horrible ownership experience because they all swear blind by Toyota. Yet we will keep telling our story. My wife, family and I are just so incredibly disappointed by the Toyota experience. I don't want a free car. I don't want my money back. I don't want anything other than what I paid for - a Toyota Corolla which doesn't rattle. Owning a Toyota Corolla has honestly left the most bitter taste in our mouths. Right now I'm prepared to just take the big monetary knock and just sell the terrible thing. Once bitten twice shy. I will never make the mistake of buying a Toyota again. What's worse than the rattling Corolla is how Toyota South Africa has handled us. I'm really sorely disappointed.
