Torga Optical Lakeside Mall

I visited Torga Optical Lakeside Mall last week to have my eyes tested. Once the test was done I was told that the cost is R550. I was surprised on the cost as I have been visiting Torga Optical Mayfair for 9 years & the most I paid was R300. I've been reading other reviews & see that most people have paid R400. I queried the amount & was told that the cost included future fittings of lenses which surprised me because in 28yrs of wearing contact lenses I have never had to go for future fittings of lenses. They usually give u a trial pair to try for a few days & then order the lenses for you. Why was I charged R550 when most other Torga stores are charging their customers R400 for an eye test?? Then yesterday I was blatantly told by one of the ladies at the branch that if I don't buy a spectacle frame with new lenses which most probably will cost minimum I'm estimating over R3000 I will not get my new contact lenses. This after I explained to the optometrist & lady at the desk that I don't use my specs at all. I only need it sometimes if I wake up during the night which is hardly ever so I need my lenses now & I will come soon for new specs. I'm lucky if I use my specs even once a week. My eye test with contacts(price taken off their website) works out to R1442 & now Im supposed to pay an additional R3000 + for new specs or else I will not be receiving my new lenses!!! Not once did it concern them being a private customer that I will not be able to afford spending so much of money all at once. No I was told in no uncertain terms buy new specs or no lenses. I am appalled at their behavior & lack of understanding. This is **************** plain & simple. This is the 1st time I am experiencing this kind of treatment from an optometrist & wonder how many more people are they ******** at the Lakeside Mall branch. So now I will have to sit without lenses until such time that I can afford to purchase new specs from them or go to another optometrist & pay for another eye test just to receive new contact lenses.
