Please read this and THINK TWICE! BEWARE!

We decided to use Torga Optical (Menlyn Maine branch) over our usual Optometrist in December 2022 as we were on leave. The Initial appointment was fine, but I had requested EXTRA attention be given to the lenses to match the thinness of the current pair that we were replacing.

Upon collection of the glasses a week later, my instructions were NOT adhered to, and we were given frames with thick ‘Coke-bottle’ lenses (See picture). Utterly disappointed, I did not want to continue with Torga anymore and asked if we could freeze everything and withdraw from the transaction. They refused and in the same day then without my consent, had their lab remake the lenses. Well, 5 months later, and long story short, I have now been FORCED to pay the full outstanding balance within 10 days under THREAT of damage to my Credit Bureau and Legal Action. They also REFUSE to credit me the cost of the frames (which have never left their premises), so I am forced to pay R7000 out of my pocket for a paper weight.

To note:

1. THE CUSTOMER DOES DEFINITELY NOT COME FIRST! 2. ONCE YOU ORDER THERE IS NO BACKING OUT and you will LOSE YOUR MONEY if you are unhappy! 3. THEY DO NOT EVEN TRY TO COMPROMISE ON THE COSTS – THERE IS NO COOLING OFF PERIOD. I am in the process of logging a complaint with OASA to investigate the matter further.
