Inferior quality contact lenses
Good day ....I am submitting the complaint on my daughter's behalf.
She bought a 6 month's supply of contact lenses in the 18th December 2019 but only started using it in late in January 2020 as she had contact lenses that she just started wearing in December 2019.
The problem she experienced was that the first to 2 sets she used from January into February. The second pair was from February into March. With the lockdown happening the 3rd pair broke it wasn't even a month then the 4th part 5th pair etc. When she contacted a guy named Dale Torga Optical Promenade she called Thursday the 4th June explaining what she experienced and obviously knowing they were not open and the lockdown was still in effect she could not put in a complaint before level 3 when they reopened. It was 3 days later and she still received no joy and she had to phone back again as Dale from Torga did not call back or he just didn't bother to call. He then informed her that it's her fault that she doesn't have specs there is nothing they can do as she had informed him why did 4 pairs just break without any reason and she asked how was she supposed to give them feedback when they were closed during the lockdown. He just rep**** he that the Optometrist at the branch told him there is nothing they can do and that they would not replace any of contact lenses and that she should have invested in a pair of specs. So the question remains that how could she complain about the contact lenses when they were closed and when she used to wear one type of lens for both eyes her lenses lasted longer sometimes she could wear it more than a month then change it but since she tested her eyes again she was wearing 2 different types of lenses it broke. They refused to give her even a trial pair and she paid over a thousand Rand with new eye test inclusive just to not get her monies worth. It's ridiculous how they will not take responsibility for the inferior quality lenses they gave her because every lens is not the same. They didn't or wouldn't even attempt to supply her with another make of lens so she could atleast test it out so that they could replace the 4 pairs she actually never wore. I did tell her to keep the broken 1 of the last pair she had. Dale if Torga actually had the nerve to tell her that the 6 months was over but it was just the beginning of June and her 6th pair of contact lenses had already broken that which she should comfortably has worn still till mid July. Intact she was also not working which meant she did not wear her contact lenses everyday. Please help her as she has no means to pay for more lenses and it's ridiculous that she should pay again.
