Catch 22

I do not have medical aid and I always get my son's contact lenses at Torga ********** Yesterday I phone to order the contact lenses and today I receive a call saying that they cannot order the contact lenses because his eyes needs to be tested first. He is 18 years old, he's eyesight have not changed so why should I pay an additional R400 for a eye test that is totally unnecessary. This is blatantly a money making scheme and the worst is it even if I wanted to go and get the prescription for his eyes at another optometrist they cannot help me because legislation insist that he has to have a eye test on record before a prescription can be filled. I am so frustrated, because I simply do not have the money!! And he needs new contact lenses, I have tried to get him glasses for when this happens but they charge me over R4000!! Really I am a single mother with one income how do they expect people to pay this.
