READ THIS ABOUT FLOORING
<p>Designer Blinds and Floors quoted me approximately R160,000.00 to do my floors. Only too eager to take on the work to do flooring throughout my massive home. Once I had signed the deal I never saw the owner, Wayne Wilson again. His team made an outrageous mess and my own staff had to clean it up. Any communication with Wayne resulted in him blocking me on what's app. Less than a year later the awful experience that I had dealing with them resurfaced due to the poor and disgusting workmagnship resulting in the screed under the flooring cracking and not lasting. He sent guys to lift the flooring and butcher away the cracked screed. Damaging my furniture, walls, doors and, door frames. He then barged into my home with a salesman from one of his suppliers proclaiming to be a cement expert. His lies and crazy ways continued and any attempt I made to bring his contradictions to his attention was met with more abuse. His abuse and screaming conversation almost got me to lay a charge of assault but the idea of dealing with a case against him would result in further contact with him down the line. He then had the cheek to proceeded to quote me a rediculous amount to repair their shoddy work and screamed at me further when I disagreed. Only to reduce the quote but insist on 100% payment up front.</p> <p>I then got a letter from Top Carpet guaranteeing they will undertake to put back the floor free of charge however I must pay fir the screed, which I did. In arranging a date to put back the floors, which is specified in writing will be free of charge, Wayne Wilson then presented me with a quote of R2300 and said he will not begin the flooring without a payment.</p> <p>I trust his intention is to keep up the pathetic and infamous reputation of Top Carpets and Floors which is the other name they go by.<br />if you want to test your patience, be abused, and deal with a complete brain amputated nut case, I trust they would be the ones to call!</p>

As the MD of Top Carpets and Floors I was most perturbed to view your comments and have made as thorough an investigation as possible on the matter, which I have itemised below. Should there be any inaccuracies in my comments please advise.
The installation took place in late February 2016 and a product Euro Vision 4V Colour Bianco was installed
Unfortunately there is no information on the mess you allude to or Wayne’s so called behaviour. I am then faced with two completely opposite opinions on what took place. Do you have any correspondence complaining of the situation you may have written at the time?
Your complaint of the product lifting was received approximately a year later – February 2017.
On inspection Wayne requested assistance from Mr Mac Dougall from the company ITE Products. At this point I must mention that Mr Mac Dougall is one of the foremost experts in the flooring industry on adhesives and screeds. Having used his services over the past 30 years I have come to respect his judgement and recommendations. The feedback I received was that you have what is commonly known as a “Portuguese” screed. This was a method used in the construction industry years ago and has subsequently proven to be an inferior type of screed. If you wish to receive his full report that can be arranged.
The consequences are that the self levelling screed app**** by our member stuck to your screed which proceeded to delaminate.
The cause of this is not substantiated other than the fact your original screed was of a poor quality. I must add at this point that it was not discernible at the time of quotation.
I must also stress that the whole installation was done according to the specifications outlined by the manufacturer. Details of this can also be sent to you if you wish.
On Mr Mac Dougalls advice, Wayne provided you with a quotation to repair the screed however my understanding is that you have employed your own builder to do so.
In terms of the quote you received; this was for additional material you requested and only amounted to R 2342.19 - Top Carpets Head Office will however pick up this cost.
The cost to remove your flooring and to once again reinstall has been offered to you at no cost whatsoever.
Not withstanding your derogatory comments on our company which has now been in existence for 29 years nor for your disparaging comments on an expert in his field, we still remain a customer centric company who will do everything in its power to resolve all and every issue. The fact we have offered to assist, at our cost, in resolving a problem, not of our making, is proof enough. I must add however that feedbck is that the builder has made some reference now to the height of the screed being an issue. Under the circumstances the only way I will sanction our company being involved in the refitting is once the new screed has been inspected and approved by the South African Wood Laminate Flooring Association. Our company will pick up the cost of the inspection.
The choice is yours on the way forward
