Not a happy customer.

My 2011 Opel Astra Essentia received a major service at your establishment in January this year.

I was duly unhappy with some elements of this service and I communicated that to your consultant during the follow-up call.

About three weeks ago, my car's computer started telling me that my car is in need of a service, a mere 3 months after it received a major from you. I popped in last week to ask your advice and was told by the technician that you do not have the correct and necessary software to access an Opel Astra's computer for analysis.

Is this a fact? If so, kindly clarify how you can accept an Opel Astra for an (R3,000 plus) service without the necessary software to do an analysis.

The only advice the technician could give me was to take my car "somewhere else" where they will have the software.

Needless to say, my disappointment in your offering keeps growing.

Kindly advise a way forward.

If no notes where made about my grievances in January, let me refresh your memory:

1. I was charged a different (and bigger) amount than what I was quoted. 2. Upon enquiring about the cost, the amount was quickly changed back to the original quoted amount, and when I say quickly, I mean instantly. How does that work? Is there a set amount for a major service on a specific vehicle type or do those amounts vacillate for some reason? 3. I was told that I urgently needed to replace a thermometer at around R5350, as mine was broken. I couldn't afford that at the time and decided to wait until the next month to incur the big cost. Upon fetching the vehicle I could see that, indeed, the temperature indicator on my dashboard was not working. Turns out that it was not broken and simply (and strangely) stuck. It came unstuck two days later and was working as always - it still is.

When I communicated these facts with the consultant after the service, I was told that "he was very sorry." Simply not good enough, Thorp Plumstead.
