Completely ********* Conduct

I am absolutely astounded at your lack of regard for students considering the exorbitant fees that are charged.

For the Psychological Assessment module I was marked down for using references that are older than 10 years. When I questioned this, the course coordinator said that references older than 10 years cannot be used "as they are not reflective of current advancement in the academic or research space." I can accept this, however, when the prescribed material for the course is older than 10 years and at a cost of R12083.00 for the module, I am wondering how on earth SACAP justifies this? When I questioned this TWICE with the Student Governance Manager, I was simply ignored. I would really like to know how I can be marked down for using references older than 10 years, but the prescribed material for the course is also older than 10 years and I am charged for this!

Also, once AGAIN assessment marks have not been sent back within SACAP's promised deadline. Again, proving that deadlines only apply to students and not to staff. Students are penalised for handing in work late, but it is OK for educators to miss deadlines. This happens about 90% of the time.

It is ******** what you charge for using outdated material, by your own admission. I assume that I will be getting a refund for this course? It is ironic that part of this course includes a module on Ethics . . . SACAP staff should be required to complete this module and adhere to the material in there!

Hi Alison,

We acknowledge your frustration and encourage you to follow the correct processes for complaints via our complaints and grievance process for particular individuals and/or circumstances. This allows SACAP the opportunity to investigate the specific poor administrative instances. Laying the complaints via social media platforms does not allow for streamlined and effective communication and resolution.

The student governance manager will be in touch with you directly to ensure we can capture the complaints for effective investigation and resolution.

I have done this and unfortunately get no response. Going to social media seems to be the only way that I get a response and it is also a service to prospective students, I do not want anyone else to have to spend huge amounts of money and not receive what is promised by SACAP.

This only seems to happen once I go to social media, which is a pity. Both previously and currently I followed your complaint procedure and after over a week of no response, I tried another platform. I believe that your policy is a 48 hour turnaround with regard to emails. If this had happened, then I would not have had to seek other channels.

Hi Allison,

As advised by the Student Governance Office, an investigation involving multiple stakeholders (particularly between terms) will not be resolved within our 48 hour response time.

The team has advised that a formal investigation report will be provided on Monday, 10th June 2024.

Our Deputy Dean of Learning and Teaching has also offered to meet at a time that is convenient for you to ensure we have effectively captured your complaints and can offer the appropriate resolution, based on the outcome of the investigation. The Student Governance manager will reach out to you in this regard.

I understand this and appreciate this. However when I send something and hear absolutely nothing back in over a week, that is when I have to try other avenues. It appeared that the "ignore it and it will go away" approach was being take by SACAP.
