Terrible stay

My husband and I decided to stay at The Royal Hotel the evening of the 29th October 2016, Friday. I was in a car accident the Wednesday just before and needed to get away and have a good rest.

Upon arrival, the lady at the front office was so polite and friendly, unfortunately I can not remember her name.

We then booked in and went up to the room to put our bags down. When walking into the room, I could immediately feel there was a problem with the air conditioning. My husband tried to adjust it but the control seemed to be stuck on a heater setting. We then called front office and was moved to another room.

When arriving at the second room, we could immediately, again, feel there was a problem with the air conditioning. This time, it was not stuck on heater but it seemed to be working as a fan only and was not cooling down the room. And it was a typically hot Durban day. We then called front desk, again. The person on the line said that there was no other rooms available but they would sort the problem out.

We then left and had dinner in town, thinking that the air conditioning would be sorted out by the time we got back. To our surprise, the air conditioning was still not working but a stand-alone-fan had been placed in the room. There was no 2 point plug attached and it would not do. It was late by that time and we decided to let it be.

The next morning, the water from the shower was a tiny trickle of water, the toilet was not flushing and the basin was also not draining properly.

Now I am sure you can imagine that we were not impressed and not happy at all and we did not have a pleasant evening or morning.

As if our stay couldn't get any worse. We went down to have breakfast. Not one of the tables were clean. The one that looked the best, which we sat at, had no crockery on it and it had three dirty plates from other guest on it. We looked passed that as we were hungry and just wanted to leave. I then went to dish up and asked the waitress if there was fried eggs and bacon. She looked at me as if I spoke in another language, so I asked her again and she responded by saying: "What?" We then left, without eating anything.

I reported it to the manager on duty. He reassured me that someone would be in contact with me. And I never heard back from him. In December I contacted the front desk manager again and retold this long story again and still nothing.

It would be appreciated if I could get a response from this email.

After sending two emails, still no response. The service gets worse and worse.

Regards
Cathy van der Merwe
********** 816
