Today I arrived at the hotel for a 4-night booking. I enquired at the counter whether there was an early check in time available. The lady referred me to the manager, who 1st stated the account was paid and also early check would be 1 night plus half of a night fee. She also said I should check who makes payment and push them to pay or pay myself. When sometimes arrives at your establishment, kindly show some empathy and be kind to them, advise what they can do in the interim (for me a new town, unknown to me), that they would want to come back to your establishment. Personally, I won't come back. Long and short I checked in at 2pm all payments were made ,but for an organisation to have these philosophies and values, leaves a lot of questions?

Booked by an agent, check in 14 October 2025 and checking out 15 October 2025. Reception desk, the lady told me that the hotel is fully booked and as a result I've been allocated a room at River City Hotel, apparently owned by the same group. My work colleague was allocated a room at Protea Hotel Upington. The changes were not communicated prior to arrival and not fami**** with Upington. The experience was horrible as you can imagine, the so called Manager was useless 😞 and pathetic 😡. Firstly, I was informed of the gift for the inconveniences and the Manager came back and said I can order anything at the bar and he will sign it off. On the the day I wanted to rest in a safe and comfortable place but what I received was the total opposite. Why would employees think gift and booze is the only way that makes the world spin around. Note that I can afford all these things at my own cost. I felt like I was treated like a second class citizen by black people who totally undermine me, perhaps my skin was too dark compared to theirs. The Oasis and Protea Hotel Upington made me feel like less of a human and so wish people would look elsewhere for accommodation and hospitality. The River City Hotel Upington is below standard, no lift to go upstairs, bedding and bed's, it's horrible.
