READ the paperwork

The administrative service is great. They promptly answer calls and reply on questions. On-site inspections are done quickly and efficiently, the staff, like Pertunia is very helpful and documents are sent quickly.

But this is where it ends.

BEWARE if you want to rent an appliance from these people. I want to install a gas stove (I am a renter, so my budget is limited). What I liked about the website information, is that you can rent-to-own, gas is supp**** on demand and the equipment is installed with a CoC. This is what they advertise.

But, when they send the contract, it is NOT a rent-to-own contract. It is a purchase contract on installment basis. People, you need to READ what you sign.

Any rental agreement is, in and of itself, by its very definition, a temporary arrangement. This means that a rental agreement can be terminated on notice by a party. Rent-to-own is a temporary agreement with a suspensive condition: According to the website of gas company, rent for 36 months and the appliance becomes yours. That is NOT how the agreement reads that was sent to me.

Yes, the 36 months is there, but it is a purchase agreement, not a rental agreement. According to this agreement, you cannot cancel the agreement unless Gas Company is in breach of the agreement. What happened to cancel at any time? Look, I have no problem with penalties for early termination. But I want to be able to cancel the agreement on notice.

Again, that is not how their agreement reads. Oh, and, if you sign this agreement, and the agreement is cancelled, you are not allowed to cancel your debit order as long as you are in possession of the appliance. The implication is that the contract is cancelled, the appliance is still in your house, but you have to keep paying, even if you don't use the appliance. My concerns are this:-

1. It is supposed to be a rental agreement, not an installment sales agreement; 2. The agreement should be terminable on notice as advertised on their website; 3. There should be a clause that says you must either return the appliance after cancellation of the contract, or Gas Company will collect or uninstall the appliance within, say, 7 days from cancellation of the contract. Based on the contract, if the contract is cancelled, and Gas Company does not remove the appliance or you cannot return the appliance within a certain period of time, you keep paying? Nope

And when you speak to the people, they say that the anytime cancellation is only on the gas supply. That is not what the website says. The staff also stated to me that they did not know what the website said, and therefor cannot answer my questions about appliance rental.

I took a screenshot of the web link that says rent your appliance from us. And no, I am not simply bashing Gas Company based on a contract. They did not send me the wrong contract and now I am kvetsching about it.

When I received the contract at first, I raised all of these concerns with them. It was then escalated from the sales lady to Pertunia. Pertunia and I spoke repeatedly. She was taking my concerns to their legal department on 15 February 2021, and would have a new contract ready for me by 19 February 2021. Well, she did send me a new contract on 19 February 2021, and it WAS changed. My name now appeared in the contract. That is all. I was again sent a sales agreement on installment plan

I again sent an email to the lady and explained the legal terms to her and asked her to take it to their legal team again.

Well, nothing happened to date. Even if they suddenly send me a proper rent-to-own contract, I do not think that I can do business with a company where

1. Their adverti*****t on their own website is false; or 2. Their legal team do not understand the difference between sale on installment, rental, or rent-to-own contracts.

If these are the problems I am experiencing now, I forsee problems if I want to cancel my contract if I move from where I live now, to a place where I may not need the gas stove
