Statement Regarding Injury at The Crazy Store Horizon View

Statement Regarding Injury at The Crazy Store Horizon View

On 20 November 2024, I was injured at The Crazy Store during my lunch break when a shelf partially collapsed and struck me on the back. I initially had pain but didn’t think much of it. By evening, it worsened. I saw a doctor and was diagnosed with a fractured rib.

Before going to the doctor, I contacted the store to report the incident. I was told a regional manager would call me. After getting my diagnosis, I contacted the store and was referred to the customer care line. I sent them a detailed account.

The injury didn’t improve — I had to undergo more doctor visits, physiotherapy, injections, and medication. I submitted all medical receipts & sick notes to the liability insurer, who then handed the case to another insurer. Both only offered to cover medical costs — ignoring my pain, transport costs, time off work (8 sick days), and emotional stress.

Despite everything, The Crazy Store never followed up to ask how I was. Instead, they closed the case. I’ve repeatedly stated it’s unresolved, but was told it’s now in the hands of the insurer. When I returned to the store, I saw the same shelf is still tied with a cable tie — a clear safety concern.

The liability insurer said if I don’t accept their offer, they’ll consider the matter closed, and I must go through legal channels — something I can’t afford. I did recently join a legal group, but they could not assist as I only joined them recently and this matter occurred prior to being a member.

After months of pain, stress, and no accountability, I feel victimised and ignored. It's now July, and this remains unresolved. I’m even scared to enter any Crazy Store now, and if I do, I walk in the centre of the aisle out of fear.

This is not how a company should treat its customers
