Embarrased and humiliated

Embarrassed beyond words. Like millions of other mothers in sa, this time of year, I went to the crazy store at edenmeadows in edenvale, at about 16:30, on Wednesday, 10 feb to do some pricing on toiletries and stationery that my GrRR daughter needed. I made my notes and left the store. A lady who worked at the store, came after me calling out loudly enough for all to hear that I must come back to the store coz they want to search me. Absolutely shocked and horrified at this, I willingly comp****. On entering the store, i was told to go to the sales counter where a lady told me to wait for the manager and emptied my pockets to show I had no goods from the store. I was so embarrassed that all this was happening with customers in the store. As the manageress arrived, phindle, the sales assistant, spoke to the manager in another language, at which point, the manager explained to me that they thought I had ****** a box of plasters and that they had found it and were sorry. I had just been humiliated in the corridor of the shopping centre, embarrassed in the store and quite frankly flabbergasted at their treatment, and they were sorry.!!! My driver and I proceeded to fetch my husband from work, who is a senior customer care and security manager for a large organisation, who immediately pointed out, how grossly my consumer and human rights were violated. We then returned to the store for clarity. My husband turned on his video camera, as is his right, walked into the store and asked for the managers. On arrival, she saw that he was recording, and instead of dealing with the situation humbly and amicably, we were met with hostility. The staff scattered, and the manageress stormed out the store to call security. When they arrived, the officer on duty was in fact very professional, helpful and knew how to handle the situation. He too agreed that this was the wrong way for the store to handle this situation. The manageress hid in the back and refused to speak to us. We left the store and it has led to this. As a consumer, it is my duty to inform senior management, shareholders and the public of this reprehensible abuse and disregard of my consumer and human rights and will be taking this further.
