Unproffesional Service at Volpes

On Wednesday the 21st of June I went to the Volpes store located in the Clearwater Mall.

I was attended to by Nthabiseng who assisted me in matching the Duvet covers, I had bought the week previously, with two throws, sheeting, and pillowcases. Some of the items I required were not available in store, and she ordered it for me Online, for delivery at the store the following week. I made the payment and left the store. On my return home, I unpacked one of the throws and realised that it was too small for my King Size bed. I immediately placed the item, together with the tags and the ribbon back in the same bag and placed it in my wardrobe. My intention was to return it to the store the following week when I was to collect the items which had been ordered online. On my return to the store on Thursday the 28th of June, Nthabiseng once again assisted me, immediately looked at the item, placed it back in the bag, and helped me find a similar throw to other one I had purchased the week before. (Volpes is currently promoting their products by offering a 40% discount on the second item that you purchase from them. So, the throw I returned was discounted to R580 and the one that I wanted to replace it with was just short of R2000.) After a delay in finding the Online stock which had been delivered to them, I left the store to continue with my other c****s, with the intention of collecting my items and doing the exchange on my way when leaving the Mall. On my return to the store, Nthabiseng called the Manager and said that I wanted to do an exchange. He took one look at the item and immediately concluded that I had washed the item and then returned it to the store. He compared the item I had returned with another item from the shop floor. The more I tried to explain that I had not washed the item the more insistent he was that I had washed it. I realised that he was not going to budge so I asked for my money back, both for the throw as well as the items which were ordered online. To which he agreed and proceeded to process the refund transaction. Herein lies my problem, do the products they sell deteriorate so much that one wash would discolour their products to such an extent that they are not recognisable as new? Why would he not do an exchange, where I would spend more money at the store, but he was willing to refund my money?

I insisted that he contact his superior at his head office, I spoke to a lady by the name of Martie, she listened and had no hesitation in approving the exchange.

Even though his head office approved the exchange after I had spoken to them, I left the store with my credit processed.

Volpes has lost a loyal customer and I do not intend ever supporting them again. Their reputation is ruined due to Managers with attitude who make their customers out as ****s.
