The Foschini group online payment system causes payments made to disappear after deducted from bank account.
On the 29th of April 2020, I made a payment on my American Swiss account via the Foschini website after login onto my account - https://www.mytfgworld.com/myaccount/profile/myAccount.jsp?pageName=myAccounts&cardNumberId=1#payment .
The payment shows up on my bank account, but TFG knows nothing about it. After logging the problem with TFG, I got and email stating that TFG doesn't check the accounts and that I have to reply with a "targeted detail" bank statement. This I did, but now response yet.
I logged the problem again. Same response - I have to send a "targeted detail" bank statement. Again, I send the statement. No response.
I logged the problem a third time. No response whatsoever yet.
Today I got a phone call. I HAVE TO PAY tomorrow.
I also see that there is a R20 phone call fee now on my account for 17 June? Until today no one called me? What is the phone call fee for?
I checked my SMS's again and found the following message on the day I made the payment: "Unfortunately , your TFG account payment of R305 has failed. Please follow up with you bank before attempting to process the payment again"
I have three concerns: 1. Can extra fees just be added to my account - Phone call fee? 2. The SMS states that I shouldn't make payment before the R305 payment is processed. 3. Should TFG be allowed at all to provide an online payment mechanism if it causes payments to disappear? Can TFG claim that the payment facility is secure?
Is there a watchdog for online payments?
